While the quest itself is mechanically simple, it requires significant travel and can expose you to both enemy raiders and ARC units along the way. This guide explains where to go, what to interact with, and how to finish A Warm Place to Rest efficiently, so you don't waste time or resources.

Preparation Tips Before You Start

You don't need to extract to complete A Warm Place to Rest, but be prepared for a long trek across the Buried City map. Because of this, running a free loadout isn't always the safest option. You'll likely encounter enemies during the journey, especially if you stray off main paths or get pulled into side fights.

For best results:

Bring at least one reliable weapon

Pack extra healing ARCR Items

Avoid overloading on loot early, since the quest takes you far from common extraction points

Once you're geared up and ready, head into Buried City and begin the search.

Locate the Abandoned Highway Camp

Your first objective is to find the Abandoned Highway Camp, located on the Buried City map. This area sits just southeast of the Grandioso Apartments, making it fairly easy to reach once you identify the highway.

Move onto the raised highway itself and keep an eye out for a cluster of abandoned buses. These buses mark the camp location and are visible from a distance, helping confirm you're in the right spot.

As soon as you enter the area, the quest will update and prompt you to search for signs of survivors.

Search for Any Signs of Survivors

At the Abandoned Highway Camp, approach one of the buses. Near it, you'll find a pack lying on the ground-clear evidence that someone once stayed here.

Interact with the pack to advance the quest. Doing so triggers the next objective, which asks you to follow red markers left behind in the sand.

Follow the Red Markers (Optional)

After interacting with the pack, you'll notice red trail markers scattered across the environment. These are intended to guide you step-by-step toward the final destination of the quest.

However, following them exactly can be slow and tedious, as they wind across a large portion of the Buried City map. If you already know where the quest ends-or just want to save time-you can safely skip following every marker.

Instead, head directly toward the far eastern side of the map, where the final objective is located.

Head to the Grave Site in Buried Properties

The final location for A Warm Place to Rest lies within the Buried Properties area on the eastern edge of Buried City. Look for a partially collapsed structure surrounded by rubble and debris.
